KI Pill Working Group: Draft Report

Consultation has concluded

Consultation on the Potassium Iodide (KI) Pill Working Group's draft report on the Emergency Distribution of Potassium Iodide Within the Ingestion Planning Zone (IPZ) of Pickering Nuclear Generating Station, is now closed. Thank you to everyone who submitted comments.

In 2019, the CNSC established the KI Pill Working Group to provide clarity on the existing plans and associated responsible authorities to distribute KI pills int he IPZ, in the event of an emergency at the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station.

This draft report was written to meet the mandate of Phase I of the Working Group:

“To fulfill the commitment to the Commission to provide clarity on the existing plans and associated responsible authorities for distributing Potassium Iodide (KI) pills in the ingestion planning zone in the event of an emergency at the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station.”

How to Participate:

The CNSC invites you to comment on the draft report produced by the KI Pill Working Group. The CNSC would also like to hear from you on how well this draft report meets the mandate of Phase I of the Working Group.

The opportunity for reviewers to provide feedback on this draft report is part of the CNSC’s commitment to a transparent consultation process.
